Profiling

At Enrich all the students get the chance to say what they think of them selves & how they think & how they act. Here at Enrich we do Profiling about all those things I said earlier. You might say how do you do profiling? Well profiling goes like this, we work through a sheet full of gifted personality types, and we highlight the ones that match our own personality.

Profiling is fun & gives students a chance to think about what they think about them selves as learners.

Weekly Game

Every week here at Enrich at the start of the day there is a co-operative game.  At the start of the day the teacher will choose two people to organise a game.  The game has to go for 10-15 minutes.  The people in charge of the game have to explain to the rest of the class how to play.  Some of my favourite games have been Captains Coming, Capture the Cone, and Bandage Tag.

You should try it at your school and see how it goes.

chess

Every Wednesday I go to Enrich.  During the day, we are expected to play at least one game of chess.  You are allowed to challenge someone or be challenged by someone else.  There is also a chess leader-board for each gifted class.  At the moment, I am sitting 18th place out of 38 children.  Chess is a great mind game.  I think it is something that everyone should learn as it helps with quick thinking and using strategies.

So try it out and post me back and tell me how it went.

Rebuses

At the end of each day at Enrich, all the kids go down to the mat and up on the board are some rebuses.  What are rebuses?  Rebuses can be words or numbers and pictures of things arranged in a particular way.  You have to try to unscramble or arrange them so they make sense - they are usually a well known saying or phrase.  Some people might say to themselves what does guessing muddled up words and other things have to do with your learning, being gifted, being talented and also have the chance to go to a magnificent place once a week?  It is a motivation for me because this is my first year at Enrich and it's a brain challenge.  It's teaching me to think of lots of possible answers, to think outside the square, to look deeper and to look beyond what I first see.  Rebuses are very cool and are a great way to test your thinking.

Here is an example...

What I think being gifted & talented means

I  think that being gifted & talented means that you don't need to be scared to show off your talent. It also means to me it okay to be different to everyone & learn or to jump up with the answer in your head. I also think that being different  means you can't let others use you as an answer machine so they  can cheat on their tests. When I'm at Enrich I feel like I'm not any ones chew toy & I don't need to give anyone the answers. Maybe that's because I don't know all the answers.
